About us

The Ordinary Co (@theordinaryco) is a Singapore-based accessories label known for our reversible woven shawls, sold online and through selected stockists.

We are a small, growing independent brand, so you will see how a consumer brand is built end to end: creating content, developing products, working with stockists and packing the orders that land in our customers’ hands. You will work closely with our founder, Monica, on both the creative and the day-to-day side of the business.

What you’ll work on

Most of your time will go to creative and content work. Expect roughly 50% creative & content, 30% community & brand, 20% operations. Operations take a bigger share during launches, events and Peak Season (November – January).

Creative & Content

  • Create simple social media graphics, stories and content assets
  • Draw and illustrate shawls, colourways with art direction given
  • Assist with preparing campaign and launch materials on the website

Community & Brand

  • Assist with influencer/KOL seeding, including outreach and coordinating deliveries
  • Keep track of seeding and content received
  • Help identify creators who fit the brand

Stockists & Event Logistics

  • Help prepare stocks, displays and materials for pop-ups and stockists
  • Support key brand events, such as The Christmas Atelier
  • Assist with event setup and on-ground operations where needed
  • Help pack and fulfil orders on in-person days, with more packing during Peak Season

You might be a good fit if you…

•    Are a current student or fresh graduate from any university, polytechnic or arts institution, in design, visual communication, fashion, marketing or a related field

•    Have a good eye for typography, colour, composition and styling

•    Enjoy Instagram, TikTok and fashion/lifestyle content

•    Are organised, proactive and open to feedback

•    Are comfortable switching between creative and hands-on work

•    Are detail-oriented, resourceful and able to work on your own on remote days

Skills

•    Canva and Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop (Figma a plus)

•    Photography, Lightroom, and basic video editing (CapCut, Premiere or similar)

•    Clear written and visual communication, with a warm, personal tone

•    Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets, Shopify and Notion, or quick to learn new tools

What you’ll get

•    Hands-on mentorship from Monica, our founder, and real input into an independent brand

•    Published, portfolio-ready work across social, campaigns, product and packaging

•    Experience of the whole business: brand, product, community, retail and operations

•    Flexible hybrid working

•    Staff discount on our shawls

•    A path to a full-time role for the right person

How to apply

Send your CV and portfolio (PDF, Behance or a link to your Instagram/website) with the subject line “Creative & Brand Assistant – [Your Name]” to hello@theordinary.co. Tell us in a few lines which piece of our content you would have done differently, and why.

Applications close on Tuesday, 20 October 2026. We review applications as they come in, so apply early.

Shortlisted candidates will be given a short design brief, for example three Instagram story frames for one of our colourways, followed by a chat with Monica.

The workload will shift with the brand. Some weeks will be more creative, while launches and events will involve more hands-on preparation. We’re looking for someone adaptable, reliable and excited to make things happen.

The Ordinary Co

In Good Hands

The viscose in our shawls is sourced from a leading specialist yarn-dyeing mills, a publicly listed manufacturer with over twenty years of experience in colour development and textile finishing. The mill holds internationally recognised certifications for quality, environmental management and product safety.

The Ordinary Co

RAW MATERIAL

A Fibre Born from Nature

Derived from wood-based cellulose, viscose combines the softness of natural fibres with an elegant drape. Light against the skin and comfortable year-round, it forms the foundation of every shawl.

Sourced through FSC-certified supply chains to support responsible forest management; and processed in an OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified mill.

The Ordinary Co

Beyond the Surface

Crafted With Care, Tested With Purpose

Selected materials are independently tested for colour fastness and screened for restricted azo dyes. While unseen in the finished shawl, these quality checks form part of our continued commitment to responsible textile production and everyday wear.

The Ordinary Co

Yarn-Dyed Quality

Color That Stays True

Beautiful colour should endure beyond the first wear. Our shawls are independently tested for colour fastness, helping maintain the richness and character of each weave through everyday use and care.

Woven, Not Printed

Woven, Not Printed

Woven on jacquard looms, every motif is created by interlacing coloured yarns directly into the fabric rather than sitting on the surface as a print.

This construction becomes part of the textile itself, a reversible shawl with depth, texture and dimension, revealing a different expression on each side. The intricate weave catches the light differently as it moves, bringing subtle richness and character that cannot be achieved through printing alone.

Beautiful from both sides and designed to be worn often, each shawl is crafted to balance artistry, versatility and everyday ease.
